Basingstoke meetings are held at:
Churchill Way West,
Basingstoke, RG22 6PG.
How To Get There
From Waterloo regular South Western Trains, alas not steam - half hourly service.
Then by Bus:
Immediately outside the down side of Basingstoke Station entrance, continue down the steps and cross the road to a bus stop away to your left. Here board a Park and Ride Shuttle bus (On the front blinds of the bus look for Crossways Leisure Park) which takes you to the doors of the museum. Journey time is ten minutes and costs £2 and is every 15 minutes - concessions are available. The bus sometimes stops at the Leisure Park for 5 mins (well it did when I used it) to await passengers for its return journey. Don't be tempted to get off as he will soon be on his way to the Museum, next stop.
Or by Foot
A very pleasant, but longish, walk alongside the railway for the more sporty types. 25 minutes. From the down side station entrance turn immediately right, past the bike stand and past a yellow sand bin down some steps to a pedestrian crossing. Cross this road, and turn immediately left and over Winterthur Way towards the main road, Alencon Link. Proceed along this road up to the Victory roundabout. Here you turn right along a bike and footpath with the main road on your left. Continue along here for about 200 meters until you reach some traffic lights at Sinclair Drive. Cross the road here and take the path past Winston House on your right. Continue along here until you reach the 'end of cycle path' sign. Take the path to your right. Continue on a gradually rising path. Pass a directional sign B.C.O.T. and continue with the road on your left. After a while you will reach a turning on your right. Continue straight ahead. At the end of the lane turn right towards the railway overbridge E1/137. Continue under the bridge and turn almost immediately left along a footpath. Continue along this path, over a bridge crossing the A340- it has blue railings with the railway on your left, Continue for about 200 meters down the steps and turn left along this lane under the railway. The museum is immediately on your left.
At Junction 6 on the M3 take the turning towards town centre. At the first roundabout go straight over onto the A339. Continue for 200 meters and take the first left and drop down onto the A3010 Churchill Way East. Continue for 500 meters and at the roundabout go straight over - now Churchill Way. Continue for another 500 meters and at the next roundabout go straight over on the A3010, now Churchill Way West. Continue for 1000 meters at the next roundabout go straight over and stay on the A3010 - the Museum and Leisure Park are on your right. However, you will have to continue along the dual carriageway to the next roundabout and go back in the direction you have come to access the Park and Museum. Follow the signs left for the Milestones Museum.
Free parking is plentiful but should there be other events on there is an overflow car park two minutes away.
